Although historians have always kept records of wars and conflicts, they haven't done a very good job of keeping records about sports. It seems, however, that soccer originated in Japan over 3000 years ago! They played a game similar to soccer by kicking a small ball around on the ground, and this is the first recorded incidence. That might not be the REAL first, but it is the first record of the game. The year was 1004 BC. The game then became know in Rome, and finally Europe, where they still play soccer today. Interesting question, Jacob!
